Intensive Courses:
What are they, and should I take one?

What is an Intensive Driving Course?

An intensive driving course is designed to teach you how to drive in a significantly shorter time frame compared to regular driving lessons. These courses typically last from a few days to a few weeks, depending on your previous driving experience and the specific program chosen. The structure involves back-to-back driving lessons, often several hours a day, every day. This immersion technique aims to get you test-ready as quickly as possible, condensing the learning process into a high-impact, focused training period. These lessons are typically practiced close to a test date.

Why should I choose an Intensive Driving Course?

Speed and Efficiency: The most obvious benefit is the time saved. Traditional driving lessons can drag on for months, making it easy to forget what you’ve learned between sessions. An intensive driving course keeps the momentum going, allowing you to build and retain skills more effectively.

Focused Learning: With lessons packed into a short period, you’re fully immersed in the learning process. This concentrated exposure helps reinforce your driving skills, from basic maneuvers to complex traffic situations, enhancing muscle memory and decision-making abilities.

Faster Test Readiness: Intensive courses are designed to prepare you for the driving test in the quickest time possible. The continuous practice and immediate feedback loop help you correct mistakes and improve rapidly, increasing your chances of passing the test on your first attempt.

Increased Confidence: The consistent, daily practice helps build confidence behind the wheel. The immersive nature of the course means you’re less likely to experience the anxiety that comes with infrequent lessons, making you a more assured driver.

Cost-Effective in the Long Run: While the upfront cost of an intensive driving course can be higher, it often turns out to be cost-effective in the long run. By reducing the total number of lessons needed, you might save money compared to spreading out lessons over many months, especially when considering the potential for quicker test success.

“An Intensive Driving Course is too expensive for me.”

The initial price tag of an intensive driving course might seem daunting, but several factors make it a worthwhile investment:

  • Time is Money: If your schedule is tight or you need a license quickly—perhaps for a job requirement or a personal commitment—an intensive driving course can save you valuable time. The faster you get your license, the sooner you can enjoy the benefits of independent travel or meet critical deadlines.
  • Avoiding Bad Habits: Spacing lessons over months can lead to forgetting important skills and developing bad habits. Intensive courses minimize this risk by ensuring continuous practice and reinforcement of correct driving techniques.
  • Quality of Instruction: Intensive courses often employ highly experienced instructors who specialize in this fast-track method of teaching. Their expertise can make the learning process more efficient and tailored to your needs, justifying the higher cost.
  • Long-Term Benefits: Gaining your license quickly opens up opportunities that can lead to financial savings and career advancements. Whether it’s avoiding the costs of public transportation, enabling you to commute to higher-paying jobs, or simply providing the convenience of personal mobility, the long-term benefits often outweigh the initial investment.

How long is an Intensive Driving Course?

Intensive Driving Courses can vary on length depending on how experienced you are as a driver and your past history.
Typically, high-intensive LESSONS can range from 5+ hour sessions – with breaks included of course – per day, whereas medium-intensive LESSONS can range from 3-5 hour sessions. These long and intense lessons are practiced a couple weeks or days prior to a test.

However the overall length of the actual course depends on how many total hours you are purchasing. This is because we can cater and find an ideal session length (per day) for you based on a quick questionnaire about your driving skill and other things.
