Automatic Driving Lessons

What is an Automatic Driving Lesson?
– I’m sure you know what an automatic car is, but just for those who aren’t sure, an automatic car is one that “automatically” switches gears based on the conditions of the driving, e.g. speed and road conditions.

Pro’s and Con’s of Automatic Driving:

  • Pro’s:
  • Automatic is arguably much easier to drive and learn.
  • It is less tiring on the driver and takes less mental thinking. You could say that everything is “automatic”!
  • The driving experience is much more peaceful and relaxing with no stress of stalling the car.
  • Less maintenance as in a manual the clutch could be prone to damaging which is very costly to repeatedly repair.

While it may seem perfect to learn to drive automatic, don’t completely decide until you have read the con’s:
  • Con’s:
  • It is more expensive to purchase an automatic car.
  • If you have an auto license, you cannot drive a manual, however manual license holders can drive auto without the need for extra tests.
  • Less precise control over the car.

Which should I choose?

At the end of the day it’s completely up to you and if you believe you are capable of the hard work of learning and mastering manual driving then go right ahead, but if you want the opinion of our expert driving instructors at LDS, they would say to a new driver that they should learn automatic first to just get the hang of driving initially and to learn the road etiquette. If they are then willing to learn manual after and are confident, that they should go right for it!

Unfortunately at LDS, currently we only teach automatic, but we are soon planning to expand to manual lessons. However with automatic, we can get you on the road in a couple of weeks! Book now!
